Elmer The Elephant

Elmer The Elephant

It’s been a tough life for Elmer as she's been walking for miles on end; her trunk was starting to feel dry as she saw the little one walking side by side.
Her long trunk gently smacked against her little ones back that he stopped turning his head up towards his mother.
The little elephant stood still as he made his mother stopped too.
He looked at her with that face of curiosity that sparked his eyes.
"Mamma." The little elephants asked.
"Yes my little champ." Elmer replied.
"Do you think elephants goes to heaven.” The little one was anxiously looking at her with his eyes slightly tint to the sky.
"Yes they do." She says as they both started to hover near a Willow Tree keeping the heat away from them.
The little one sits and wait anticipated after his mother’s tales, she use to tell him a lot of tales of his ancestors out in Africa. He always thought that being out in the wild was much better than being in the zoo.
"Really." He starts to get exited.
"Son we are all created by God whether we elephant or lion. When your father left us to go up to heaven you were still a little champ."
"Is that why you call me champ." He asks.
"Yes smarty pants." She lifts up her trunk and brings the little one closer.
"But mamma why did he have to go so soon." He asks. She could hear that his voice started to quiver. And a lonely tear started to fall down his eye onto the ground as he lays his head down.
"Sweetheart it wasn't easy for him to leave us. He was very sick and there was nothing anyone could do." She said in a soft comforting voice.
She knew that one-day his going to grow up and wanting to know why all these years that it’s only been the two of them.
"Just know this that your father is watching over us from heaven. He is with you each and every day and he's so proud of the elephant you've become. Just know that whatever happens in this life that the next one you will always have a part of him inside of you." She makes sure he looked in her eyes that he would never have to feel less of his fathers love.
"Mamma I will see him one day won't I." He asked in that voice of a child wanting surety.
"Yes champ you will." She said.
"Yay now can we go get some food I'm starving." As they start to walk near the river just off the side of the riverbank.
Sometimes in life we go through hardships we lose love ones. And we always wonder why they leave us, will we see them again. As this little elephant got his answer that yes his father is up in heaven and that yes he will see him when it’s his time to go.
Life goes on, but it doesn't mean that the loved one you lost will be out of mind.

The end

This is my entry for Children's Literature. I based my story on just the elephant, and somehow i replaced the puppy with a baby elephant.
The Title of the story i give credit to my sister she gave me the name and the story is based on something I needed to express. I think we should teach kids the diversity of creativity whether its human or animals we were all created by God.
